Sarongs are long swaths of fabric, usually brightly colored and patterned, worn by both men and women in parts of East Asia. Similar variations are used all over the world. Sarongs can be hand-woven but are most commonly made by batiking cotton, rayon or silk. It may be dyed, ornamented, fringed, or plain, but if it's a rectangle of fabric large enough to wrap around the body a couple of times before tying, it can be worn as a sarong. Sarongs provide convenience and fashion too. Sarongs are easy to wear and very sexy. Sarong Ties are great for holding the sarong on without a big bulky knot on the side of the hip. It adds security so the sarong stays on. Tying a sarong just takes a little patience, practice, experimentation and a relaxed attitude. Having a few sarongs to wear to the beach or the pool as a swimsuit cover-up, on vacation as an outfit or just around town on a casual summer day is a great fashion idea. A sarong can be worn as a dress, wrapped around the waist as a long skirt or doubled over to create a short skirt.
• To wear as a Skirt - For a short sarong, fold the sarong into a triangle, wrap it around your hips and tie it at the side. Don't fold the sarong in half if you want to wear it long.
• To wear as a Dress - Wrap it around your chest and tie it in the front.
• To Wear as a Bandeau - Fold the sarong into a 5-7" wide strip, wrap it around your chest and tie it behind your back.
• To create a dress: Hold the sarong so that it is behind you and the top of the sarong lies flat against the top of your back. The center of the sarong should be in the center of your back. Wrap one of the ends around your body and draw the corner of the sarong across your chest and up along the opposite side of your neck. Repeat the same action with the second side of the sarong so that the front of your body is fully wrapped in the sarong. Tie the corners of the sarong in a knot behind your neck.
• To wear as a swimsuit cover-up, a cape, a shawl, or a short jacket: Drape sarong over your shoulders like a cape. Tie fringed end pieces together on the same side in a knot. Do the same on the other side. This will form two sleeves.
